NPO法人JDA協会（JDA）は、International Desalination and Reuse Association（IDRA）傘下において日本を代表する唯一の機関として、Asia Pacific Desalination Association（APDRA）との連携を含め、世界およびアジア太平洋地域における水問題の解決に向けた国際協力を積極的に推進されております。
このたび、下山哲之様（東レ株式会社顧問）がIDRA Board Member選挙に立候補されましたので、ご紹介申し上げます。
下山様は、東レ株式会社において約20年にわたり水処理膜事業のグローバル展開を牽引し、日本の高度な水処理技術の普及と国際市場での発展に大きく貢献されてきました。海水淡水化、水再利用、産業用水処理などの幅広い分野において豊富な知見と国際ネットワークを有しており、世界的な水課題の解決に向けた高い見識を備えられています。
現在、世界各地で水需要の増加と気候変動の影響により水資源問題が深刻化する中、日本の優れた技術や経験を国際社会へ発信し、そのプレゼンスをさらに高めていくことが求められています。下山様がIDRA理事として活動されることは、日本の水処理産業界にとっても大きな意義があり、JDA会員の皆様にとって有益な国際情報やネットワークの共有につながるものと期待しております。

We would like to express our sincere respect and appreciation for your continued leadership and contributions toward enhancing the international standing of Japan’s water treatment and desalination industry.
As the only organization representing Japan within the framework of the International Desalination and Reuse Association (IDRA), the Japan Desalination Association (JDA) has been actively promoting international collaboration to address global water challenges, including close cooperation with the Asia-Pacific Desalination and Reuse Association (APDRA) and other partners throughout the world and the Asia-Pacific region.
We are pleased to inform you that Mr. Satoshi Shimoyama, Advisor to Toray Industries, Inc., has become a candidate for election to the IDRA Board of Directors.
Mr. Shimoyama has played a leading role in the global expansion of Toray’s membrane business for approximately two decades and has made significant contributions to the dissemination and advancement of Japan’s advanced water treatment technologies in international markets. He possesses extensive expertise and a broad international network across diverse sectors, including seawater desalination, water reuse, and industrial water treatment, providing him with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the global water industry.
At a time when water scarcity is becoming increasingly severe worldwide due to growing water demand and the impacts of climate change, it is more important than ever to communicate Japan’s technological strengths and experience to the international community and further strengthen Japan’s presence on the global stage. We believe that Mr. Shimoyama’s service as an IDRA Board Member would be of great significance not only to Japan’s water industry but also to JDA members, facilitating access to valuable international insights, networks, and opportunities for collaboration.
